Cisco Jabber is a softphone client that can be used to answer CSUCI-issued phone extensions using Windows or Macintosh computers or mobile devices running the iOS or Android operating systems. This article will provide the steps that can be used to install Cisco Jabber on each platform.
Please note that before using the Cisco Jabber softphone client, users will need to have Jabber accounts created and configured for the proper device(s). To request creation of a Jabber account, use the Request Jabber Account service offering.
CSUCI-Issued Windows Computers
NOTE: The computer must be connected via Ethernet cable on campus, to the CI WiFi network, or to the VPN in order to use these steps.
- Press the Windows Key on your keyboard or click on the search bar next to the Windows icon on your taskbar, search for “Software Center” then click Software Center.
- Once Software Center opens, under Applications, click on “Jabber by Cisco”, then click Install.
- Cisco Jabber should install in 10 to 15 minutes.
CSUCI-Issued MacOS Computers
NOTE: The computer must be connected via Ethernet cable on campus, to the CI WiFi network, or to the VPN in order to use these steps.
- Open Spotlight Search (Command + Space) and type in "Self Service". Press RETURN.
- Once Self Service opens, select "Browse" on the left side of the Self Service application window.
- Click the "Install" button below "Cisco Jabber"
- Cisco Jabber should install within ten minutes.
Mobile Devices
Cisco Jabber can be installed on Android and iOS devices using the links below:
Android (Google Play Store) and iOS devices (App Store).
Personally Owned Computers
The Jabber client can be downloaded from the WebEx by Cisco website.
