Registering a Game Console for use on the Internet 

Students who wish to connect electronic devices other than computers and phones (i.e. game consoles, streaming devices, handhelds, smart TV’s and other internet enabled devices) to the internet via the campus wireless system may use the wireless network “CI_GUEST” for this purpose. Your wireless device should be able to see the names of several wireless networks, including “CI_GUEST”.

Wireless devices are registered in myCI under CI Wireless Setting. In order to register a device for use on the CI_GUEST wireless network, you need to determine its MAC address (a unique identifying number/letter sequence provided by the manufacturer). The instructions listed below and categorized by gaming device name will help you identify the correct MAC address. For information on finding the MAC address of other types of devices, consult the device manufacturer’s web site. Be sure to write down the MAC address as you will need to supply it when registering your device. 

Registration Instructions - DO THIS FIRST

1. Use a computer with internet connectivity on the campus network (i.e. a library computer or your own computer that is successfully connected already)
2. Login to myCI and select "Wireless Settings" (located under MY LINKS).
3. Select "Start Here" from the menu and select "Create Device".
4. Enter your WIRELESS MAC Address, Device Name, and Device Type. Your name in the "Entered By:" section should auto-populate.
5. Once all required fields are entered, click the "Create MAC" button.
6. Registration can take up to one hour before your device will authenticate on the wireless network.

Microsoft Consoles

Xbox One

To locate the MAC Address of your Xbox One console:

1. Navigate to My Games and Apps
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Network.
4. Select Advanced Settings.
5. Make sure to use the WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS. 

Xbox 360

To find the MAC address of your Xbox 360:

1. Go to the [System] area of the Xbox Dashboard.
2. Select [Network Settings].
3. Select [Edit Settings].
4. Select [Additional Settings].
5. Select [Advanced Settings].
6. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called "Wireless MAC Address."

Sony Consoles

PlayStation 4

To locate the MAC Address of your Playstation 4 console:

1. Arrow up and over to Settings in the PS4 menu.
2. Scroll down to Network
3. Scroll down to View Connection Status
4. The MAC Address will be listed next to MAC Address
5. Make sure to use the WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS.

Playstation 3

From the PS3 main menu screen:

1. Select [Settings].
2. Select [System Settings].
3. Select [System Information].
4. This screen will display your PS3 MAC address, make sure you use the WIRELESS MAC. 

PSP

To locate the MAC Address of your PlayStation Portable (PSP):

1. Navigate to "System Settings"
2. Then navigate to "System Information", which is where the MAC Address is listed.
3. Make sure to use the WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS.

Nintendo Consoles

Nintendo Switch

1. Select "System Settings" from the HOME Menu.
2. Scroll down through the menu and select "Internet."
3. The Nintendo Switch console's MAC address will be listed under "System MAC Address."
4. Make sure to use the WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS.

Wii U

To locate the MAC Address of your Wii U console:

1. From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.
2. Using the Left Stick select the Internet icon and press the A Button.
3. Select View MAC Address and wait a moment for the MAC Address to be displayed.

Nintendo Wii

To find the MAC address for your Nintendo Wii, follow these steps taken from Nintendo's support site:

1. From the Wii Channel menu, select [Wii Settings] (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with "Wii" on it).
2. Select [Internet], then [Console Settings].
3. The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line.
4. Make sure you use the WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS.

Nintendo DS

To find your Nintendo DS's MAC address, you will need a WiFi-enabled game for the Nintendo DS. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Setup in the game's menu. Select [Options], then [System Information]. The MAC address is displayed on the top line.

Streaming Devices

Apple TV

To locate the MAC Address of your Apple TV:

1. With your Apple TV remote, navigate to the Settings icon and select it.
2. From the Settings menu, select General.
3. Under General, select Network.
4. Your MAC Address will be next to either Wi-Fi Address or Ethernet Address depending on whether you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or a Wired connection.

Chromecast

To locate the MAC Address of your Chromecast:

1. Open the Chromecast app on your computer. If you have set up your Chromecast recently, you'll find a shortcut to the app on your desktop. Otherwise, Windows users should check the Start Menu and Mac users should check Applications.
2. Click Settings, and the MAC Address will be at the bottom of the window.

Roku

To locate the MAC Address of your Roku:

1. On the back on your Roku there are a pair of six 2-digit pairs separated by colons, e.g. 00:0D:0A:1H:3G:5C. One set is for the Ethernet connector and for the other for the wireless connector.
2. Alternatively, from the Roku home screen, select settings> player info. The Addresses will be listed on-screen.

Smart TV/Blu-ray Player

To locate the MAC Address of your Smart TV or Blu-ray Player:

• Most MAC Addresses will be visible in the Settings Menu, either under the Network or About sections.
• Alternatively, check with the manufacturer for instructions on how to obtain the MAC Address for your specific model.
