Overview
The upgraded Perceptive Content EP4 (7.7.x) desktop client may be installed via Software Center. This self-service option is simple, fast, and will not require administrative access. Please note that there is no PErceptive CLient desktop application for MacOS; Mac users are advised to use the Web-based CI Fileflow, accessible via myCI, instead.
Installation
IMPORTANT: Please note that in order to install Perceptive Content via Software Center, your computer must be connected on-campus by Ethernet cable or on the CI WiFi network. If working remotely, your computer must be connected to the GlobalProtect VPN.
- Open the Start menu and type "Software Center"
- Click "Software Center" from the list of search results to launch the application.
- Under the "Applications" tab, click the "Perceptive Content 7.7.x" icon
- Click the "Install" button. The installation
- The installation will proceed and should complete within 15 minutes.
- Optional: To add the Perceptive Content icon to your desktop, click on the Start Menu, expand the "Common Applications" folder, and click and drag the "Perceptive Content" icon to your desktop to create a shortcut.
Configuring a Connection Profile
If no prior version of Perceptive Content was installed on the computer, then the application will automatically configure the proper connection profile and these steps can be skipped. If installing Perceptive Content EP4 over a prior version of Perceptive Content, the application will attempt to connect to the old server using the old connection profile. The following steps can be used to configure a new connection profile:
- Launch Perceptive Content
- Click “Connection Profiles” > “Edit Connection Profiles”
- Click the “Create” button
- Input the server information, then click “OK”
Name: APP31
Server name: 172.20.19.20
Port number: 6000
Please note that Connection Profiles must have unique names. If a profile named "APP31" already exists, the new profile should be named differently, such as APP31-two.
- Make sure that the newly created connection profile is highlighted, then click “OK”
- You should now be able to connect
