Overview
Spam is unsolicited and unwanted email. At CSUCI we use a combination of Microsoft’s Office 365 mail filtering, Cisco’s IronPort appliances and a user’s personal Outlook application to manage and control delivery of spam. Our IronPort appliances are configured to control spamming by unscrupulous senders by filtering the data and tagging it before it is received by the user.

Benefits
By using our spam filtering systems we are able to mitigate the delivery of unsolicited and unwanted email. This reduces the amount of email delivered to a user by filtering out unwanted emails such as marketing, social network etc. preventing these email types from taking up unnecessary space on a user’s mailbox.
Requirements
Besides the default and CSUCI approved filtering we can also filter any additional email requested by a user. In order to do this we will need the user to forward the unwanted emails to infosec@csuci.edu or solutioncenter@csuci.edu. To prevent a specific user or domain we will require the full sender’s email address or if the domain is to be filtered then the domain name or ip address.
